Jozy Altidore - Americas Fooball Hope

Jozy Altidore is the biggest thing in football for USA since Landon Donovan. His immense physical presence means he can handle every big defender out there. So why didn't he succeed in Villarreal? The answer is pretty simple, La Liga is a technical liga where you have to know how to pass the ball and handle it. Many players coming to La Liga have problems adapting, it took Henry a season, Beckham really never shone here and you have players like Owen, Petit, Mcnamanan etc who never was able to adapt to the Spanish way of playing football. So it's no surprise Altidore didn't was the big hit as many had predicted (included me) but afterwards it's easy to see where he went wrong. I watched the couple of games he got for Villarreal and his touch was awful and he looked like he didn't right fit in. Even in the Segunda playing for Xeres he struggled with playing time. This American footballer with immense potential and quality.

Then in
April i was in the states watching the USA playing Trinidad and suddenly Altidore scores a hat-trick (the youngest ever American to do so). Although you can't compare Trinidad with La Liga Altidore was a whole other player, he had confidence and Bradley gave him a role in his team which suited Altidore perfect. Again I was aware of this beast of a player and highly anticipated the Confederations Cup. There again he wasn't about to let me down playing a big role in USA's 2-0 win over Spain (surely a great personal win for him also). This was the first time Altidore really had showed what he could do on the big stage against a team that didn't had lost in 35 games and was topping the FIFA ranking list.

So When
Altidore was loaned out to Hull i thought great finally he can prove himself in a league which he is suited for. The physical game of the Premier League is just what Altidore needs. I can't think of a 19 year old footballer who is as physical strong as him. If he truly fulfill his potential in Hull and reaches the greatness which many predicts him to do then i think we can say that we have a new superstriker by the name of Jozy Altidore. This weekend he finally got his debut for the "tigers" after there was some problem with work permit etc, and he can't be disappointed with his performance he set up Ghilas for the only goal of the game and three important points for Hull. Now we just have to sit and enjoy as I believe Altidore is going to be this seasons surprise in the Premier League.

Is "Dinho" back?

After a man of the match performance against Siena what everybody is talking about is whether Ronaldinho is back or not. Against Siena this Saturday Ronaldinho was "top notch" he was heavily involved in both of AC Milan's goals he had a disallowed goal in the net and he was able to fire off a bicycle kick which Curci, the Siena keeper, could only push over the crossbar for a corner. So, is he back?

No, we will probably never see the old Ronaldinho back but what we saw this weekend i must say is promising because "Dinho" played a great game without using his speed and acceleration (which he has lost). And it's exactly this he have to do, Ronaldinho is no longer a young chap who can run tireless around the field flipping through players like a hot knife through butter he's more of a stationary player now. If he can transform himself into an "offensive Xavi" i think everybody who comes up against Milan will shiver in their pants.

I think every AC Milan supporter wept a little tear when Kaka travelled to Madrid to sign for the EE (eternal evil), but look what gates this transfer has opened. It may be the rebirth of one of the greatest player the world has ever watched, a man who got applause from the Madrid fans as a Barca player, a man who makes hard men cry, a man who always smiled, a man we all thought we had lost, Ronaldinho.
